Elizabeth Zak Named Managing Attorney of the Volunteer Lawyers Project

MARCH 5, 2019

Congratulations! to Elizabeth Zak on being named Managing Attorney of the Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP). The VLP was co-founded by Legal Aid and the Cincinnati Bar Association to encourage volunteer participation by private attorneys to help meet the growing need for legal services for low-income families and individuals.

Elizabeth joined Legal Aid in 2014 from Pro Seniors where she specialized in Veterans and Elder law. She has continued to represent Veterans, and has gained expertise in housing, consumer, and public benefits law as a member of Legal Aid’s Housing, and Income, Work & Health practice groups. In addition, Elizabeth has been the housing law liaison for M-HeLP, Legal Aid’s medical–legal partnership with TriHealth/Good Samaritan Hospital and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. In 2018, Elizabeth managed the distribution of $975,000 to subsidized housing residents as a result of a HUD civil penalty settlement.

Legal Aid Executive Director Mary Asbury stated, “Elizabeth’s passion and commitment to clients, her ideas for outreach and recruitment as well as her strong project management skills will be an asset to the VLP.”

“I am deeply committed to expanding access to justice for low-income families, Elizabeth commented. “I look forward to collaborating with the Board and the private bar to expand the VLP’s impact.

Elizabeth received her BA, cum laude, from Denison University and her JD from University of Cincinnati College of Law.
