Who is Legal Aid?
Legal Aid is a non-profit law firm founded in 1908. We help low-income people achieve economic security and family stability by resolving their civil, (non-criminal) legal problems.
What does Legal Aid do?
Legal Aid provides free legal help for civil legal problems including information, advice and representation. Issues we can address include: resolving custody and visitation concerns, problems that interfere with job training or employment, securing protection orders, representing in eviction or foreclosure situations, preventing lockouts or utility cutoffs by landlords, or school discipline removals.
We will make referrals to other organizations if we are unable to help. We also have self-help information and forms on our website in the SELF HELP INFORMATION section.
Do you take criminal cases?
No we do not handle any criminal or traffic cases.
What is the difference between Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati and Legal Aid Society of Southwest Ohio, LLC.
Legal Aid Society of Southwest Ohio, LLC (LASSO) is an affiliate of Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati (LASGC). It was established in 2007 when LASGC expanded from a three to seven county service area. All requests for assistance from LASSO are handled, according to a management agreement, through a central reception and intake system managed by Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati. All Administrative, Fundraising and Communications are also managed, according to the same management agreement, by LASGC. LASSO does not receive any funding from the Legal Services Corporation.

We help low-income individuals and families who have annual incomes of less than 200% of the Federal Poverty limit. Click here to see the complete income chart.
I called Legal Aid but you weren’t able to help me…Why not?
We get 27,000 requests for assistance each year. Unfortunately, we do not have enough advocates to help everyone who calls. However, if we are unable to provide assistance, we will try to give you a referral. You may also click here to view Other Resources.
In what areas do you operate?
Legal Aid serves low-income individuals and families in seven counties in Southwest Ohio: Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton, Highland and Warren.

Where are your offices?
We have two offices, our main office at 215 E. Ninth Street in downtown Cincinnati and at 10 Journal Square, Hamilton.
We will also conduct interviews by appointment in Batavia, Georgetown, Hillsboro, Lebanon, Middletown and Wilmington.
What are your hours?
We are open from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
