Legal Aid Client Shares The Anguish of An Eviction
JUNE 21, 2018
WCPO reporter Lucy May profiled a Legal Aid client who was evicted from her home of four years to show the personal impact of an eviction.
Just one month after the health department found mold in her apartment, our client, Stephanie Smith, complained about it. As a result, the landlord filed for eviction. Ms. Smith and her three children were forced to leave their townhome on very short notice.
Ms. Smith and her attorney, Nick DiNardo, Legal Aid Managing Attorney of the Housing and Consumer Practice Group detail how, even after Legal Aid stepped in and got the eviction vacated, Ms. Smith’s ability to find housing was severely limited, leading to her being separated from her children for months, and undermining her family’s stability.
