New Evictions Study Illustrates the Impact on our Community
JUNE 21, 2018
Legal Aid Society of Southwest Ohio, LLC and Housing Opportunities Made Equal (HOME) collaborated with The Cincinnati Project at the University of Cincinnati to conduct a study on evictions in Hamilton County. The study showed there have been almost 50,000 eviction filings over the past four years. The neighborhoods with the highest rate of evictions are those with the highest poverty rates, such as Mount Airy, Winton Hills, West Walnut Hills, and Avondale. The study also details the ten landlords whose filings represent almost 20% of total evictions. Legal Aid and HOME plan to present these findings and the proposed solutions to Cincinnati City Council and Hamilton County commissioners this summer. Read the study by clicking here.
